Who we are
Business Events Ireland is run by the Digital Business Institute, The Hive, Dublin Road, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, N41 FD83, Ireland. We decide how and why the personal data described below is used. To contact us, reply to any email we send you or use the contact page on our website.
The weekly email
- What we collect: your email address, and the dates you confirmed or unsubscribed.
- Why: to send you the weekly email about in-person business events in Ireland. We only do this if you ask for it, and only after you confirm by clicking the link we email you.
- Our legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep the address, marked as unsubscribed, so we never email you again by mistake. Ask us and we will delete it completely.
- Who sends it: our email provider, Resend, sends the emails for us (from its Ireland region).
Submitting an event
If you submit an event, we keep your name, your email address and the event details so we can check and list it and contact you about it. The event details are checked automatically using an AI service. We use this information because it is needed to handle your submission.
Advertising and sponsor enquiries
If you send an enquiry or buy a plan, we keep your name, email address, business name, website and the content of your ad or message, to reply to you and to run your plan. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We keep records of orders for as long as the law requires.
Visitor statistics
We count visits and clicks (for example views of an event or clicks on a booking link) as anonymous daily totals. This does not include your name, email address, IP address or any identifier, and we do not use cookies to do it.
What stays on your device
- Events you save, and a recent copy of the schedule that lets the page load faster, are kept in your browser's local storage on your device. We do not receive them.
- If you use "Near me", your location is used in your browser to work out distances. It is not sent to us.
Other services the site uses
Fonts load from Google Fonts, maps from OpenStreetMap, and checkout from Stripe. When your browser loads them, those providers can see your IP address. The site is hosted and its data stored with Lovable and Supabase. Some of these providers may process data outside the EU/EEA, in which case they rely on the safeguards required by data protection law.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, to move it to another provider, or to withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of this, reply to one of our emails or contact us as above. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of this page.
